We’ve seen many factories using small, home-use autogate motors for their heavy factory gates. Many factories make the mistake of using home-use autogate motors for their industrial gates. Old Customer Has Problems With Track and Roller
The factory in the picture is one of our long-time customers, where we installed the Valet Technology Model VT1500s 15 years ago. The customer reached out to us due to an issue with the Valet sliding autogate getting stuck during opening. When they unlocked the VT1500S sliding motor and attempted to manually close the gate, they found it very heavy and required three people to do so. Over the phone, they mentioned that they suspected an issue with the VT1500S autogate sliding motor and were considering replacing it with a new autogate motor. Upon inspection, we found that the sliding autogate rollers were jammed and rusted, the internal bearings were damaged, and the sliding gate track was misaligned, which prevented the wheels from properly contacting the track when the gate moved.
We provided them with an on-the-spot quote for the track and roller replacement. After receiving approval from the boss, we immediately began fixing the autogate rollers and track. While waiting for the new track to be delivered, we removed the old autogate rollers. First, we lifted the gate and then proceeded to remove the damaged rollers. There were 4 autogate rollers, each 4 inches. Luckily, we had a few different sizes of autogate wheels in stock, so we didn’t need to wait for a factory order. This helped us get the replacement done without any delays. It took us an hour to replace the bottom wheels of the gate, and just as we finished, the autogate track arrived. It then took us another 4 hours to replace the track. After replacing the autogate floor track and the gate bottom rollers, we readjusted the gear rack attached to the gate and sprayed some WD40 on the Valet VT 1500S’s pinion gear. Now, the autogate is running very smoothly, and one person can easily open and close the gate manually.
