Autogate Puchong – Why Your Autogate Remote Control Is Not Working
Recently, we were called to repair an autogate system in Puchong because the customer was having ongoing problems with the remote control.
The customer told us:
“The blue remote is the original one. The purple remote is a duplicate and doesn’t work at all. Even the original blue remote only works sometimes. We had to disconnect the autogate arm because the remote was not working properly.”
After speaking with the customer, we found out that several remote controls had been duplicated over the years at different key shops. As a result, multiple types of remote controls were being used on the same autogate system.
This is actually a common problem that we encounter during autogate repair jobs. Many homeowners assume that all autogate remotes work the same way, but different remote controls may use different components, frequencies, and coding systems. When incompatible remotes are used together, the receiver may have difficulty receiving signals correctly. Over time, this can affect the receiver’s performance and eventually cause damage.
Common signs of this problem include the autogate not responding to the remote control, having to press the button several times before the gate opens, needing to stand very close to the gate, or the gate operating inconsistently.
In this customer’s case, the situation became so frustrating that the autogate arm was disconnected and the gate had to be operated manually. The customer only relied on remote controls to operate the gate and did not have an indoor push button switch. Since the original installer could no longer be contacted, they decided to call us for assistance.
After inspecting the system, we asked the customer to gather all the remote controls currently being used. To our surprise, there were six different remotes from various suppliers and key shops. After further testing, we confirmed that the receiver had been damaged due to signal issues caused by the incompatible remotes.
To solve the problem, we replaced the old receiver and installed a new high-quality 433MHz remote control system. The new setup included one receiver and three remote controls. The customer later requested an additional three remotes for family members.
All old remotes were removed from the system and can no longer be used. We also explained that our remote controls use anti-copy technology and cannot be duplicated at ordinary key shops. If additional remotes are needed in the future, the customer can obtain them directly from us to ensure full compatibility and security.

Autogate Remote Control Not Working or Receiver Problem? Here’s How to Tell
If your autogate remote control is not working, it does not always mean that the remote itself is faulty. In many cases, the real problem may be the receiver. Many autogate systems use specific frequencies and coding methods. Using the wrong type of remote control, even if it looks identical to the original, can cause communication problems between the remote and receiver. This may result in weak signal range, inconsistent operation, or complete failure of the system.
We often come across customers who purchase low-cost remotes online because they appear to be the same model. However, the internal components are often different, and the remote may not work properly with the existing receiver. In the long run, this can lead to more repairs and higher costs. For this reason, we always recommend getting additional remote controls from a trusted autogate installer who understands your system and can provide the correct remote for your model.
